Breaker, Breaker Ms. Manning is making her first blog post! For some reason I thought this moment would be different... Where's the fireworks, cheering, I was at least hoping for an orchestrated "Halleluiah" chorus.
Okay, well then, my first blog post. What do you write about? Anthing!? hmmmm.... Well, here goes:
Today is Sunday, November 28th, 2010. Seems like a good day for a blog post. Dude, I'm totally psyching myself out with this "blog post" idea. Haha, can you write "haha" in a blog post, or does it have to be politically correct. Oh well, this is Thanksgiving weekend. Today in church Pastor John talked about "Radical Gratitude", it's funny. In all this celebrating of Thanksgiving, I kind of forgot what it means to be thankful for something. I spent Thanksgiving at my friend Cheri's family lodge in the mountains. It was beautiful and amazing, but in all my time up there... I don't think once did I really think about what "Thanksgiving" is all about. Giving thanks... thanks to whom? To God of course silly! For life, breath, heart pumping blood. Yeah, that all sound like things that are pretty good to be thankful for. Giving thanks to God for an amazing family, and wonderful friends. Giving thanks for imagination and creativity. Believe me, I'd be an all together pretty boring person if I didn't have a wild imagination and a creative side that is always trying to break out. Maybe, I should thank God for technology, I mean otherwise I wouldn't be able to have a blog to share my thoughts and ideas with the world. That's the problem with humans, we want so much for everything we do to be so big, we pass by the simple things that sometimes are all the more spectacular. Thank you God, for the ability to read a write. Maybe not well, but well enough. I'm definitely no Shakespeare, but to openly express my thoughts and feelings on paper, or in a blog, so that the mind doesn't all too easily forget them. Yeah, I like that one. Thank you for a host family, who took me in and gave me a bed. I like my bed, sleeping is awesome. Oh! Thank you God, for the coming excitement of Christmas! Jesus' birthday, yeah I like that day! Lots of thanksgiving! hehe. Am I allowed to say "hehe"? Who knows? Thank you God for memories. Thanks for times in the past to look back on and smile, laugh, or cry... how I treasure my past. Thanks for old and new memories. Thank you God for the world, I'd be left standing in the middle of nowhere if there was no world. Okay, bad pun. Hmmmm... I'm looking around my room... God! Thank you for my blue and white parakeet, Pepper! How I love that little bird, yes I do! Thank you for the Meck family who rescued my little Pepper from behind the refrigerator on Wednesday, November 24th. Yes, my bird got trapped behind the refrigerator. Not many people would up and leave their house to rescue some distraught girl's (that'd be me) little bird from behind a heavy fridge. Thanks for strong people, strength in muscle and mind. You are good Lord. Thank you for sending Jesus to save me from my sins. That's probably my most important thanks, not probably, that is my most important thanks. Where would I be without a loving and gracious God to depend on and guide me when I walk into doors (I do that a lot)? Haha. He is my everlasting comfort and fulfillment.
I should probably stop, this would be a really long blog post and I want people to come back not die of reading whiplash. It's amazing how there is lots to be thankful for.
Thank you for reading my very first blog post! I'm still waiting for the "Halleluiah" chorus... nothing. haha. Guess I'll have to post without them. Don't forget to tell some people why you are thankful for them! God Bless!
I'm thankful for you! :)
