I’m ready to go
I’m standing here
Outside your door
I hate to wake you up to say goodbye”
That’s right! My Chinese visa arrived yesterday and I’m FINALLY leaving for China! There are ZERO days left in this countdown! For the past six weeks (that I have been delayed), my life has felt as though it were on pause. No movement, no clear direction, just an unknown state of waiting. Now, with the arrival of my passport, it is as though somebody has suddenly pressed fast forward and we're speeding ahead! I feel like we skipped something in the middle, the part that was supposed to feel natural... but nevertheless, it's now: ready or not…!
School started this week, so at this point I am missing the entire first week. I must say the administration, faculty and staff have been SO supportive and encouraging during the days of stress, anxiety and many, many questions. Though the transition will look a lot different than I had anticipated, I am grateful to already have felt so welcome by my co-workers even from far away.
This blog will not be long. Just a little note to say, “I’m going!” My total flight time is about 17 hours (with a five-hour layover in Beijing), so I’m planning on spending this day of travel doing a lot of praying and a lot of sleeping. I am committing to memory this verse shared with me by a family friend:
he is our help and our shield.
For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.”
Psalm 33:20-22
Don’t get the wrong idea though! This is not the end, but the beginning of a great adventure with the King of heaven leading the way!
Thank you to all of you who prayed for me during this whole process! I hope you will keep me in your prayers as I travel, arrive, and jump into the school year! THANK YOU!
The next blog I post will from CHINA!!!!!! I cannot wait! :)
