As of last week, I have now been in China for over 14 weeks! I cannot believe that it is the month of December already. Where did the time go?
THIS WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
THE ISQ CHRISTMAS FAIR
MORE HIGHLIGHTS
I started taking weekly yoga classes with a few other expat women. The yoga studio is right across the street from my apartment complex, so it’s super convenient and fun. I’ve only been twice at this point, but it’s already been really beneficial for my language learning. First of all, I learned the words for “left” and “right” when I kept going the wrong the way from everyone else, haha. Plus, these teachers are super tough and though I’m sore after the classes, it feels great to push myself physically and be healthy. Another important part of this is us (expat women) investing in our home communities, the people we pass on the sidewalk every day.
During English corner this week, our topic was about Thanksgiving and its origins in the west. One of the young men in my group is a recent Brother. After one of the questions related to the pilgrims and their motivation for moving to the U.S., he openly and honestly shared about his recent discovery of the Good News and how it has transformed his life. Three of the students in my group began discussing their views of truth and how it impacts people’s lives. I cannot express what an honor it was to sit there and listen, chiming in only a time or two to encourage my Brother in his sharing. I saw the movement of HIM in the lives of these young people. Please think of these students, especially my Brother in his walk and willingness to spread the Truth he has found! PTL!
Last night, my roommate and I hosted a gettogether for a group of single girls we’ve gotten to know through different things: school, visiting different fellowships, English corner, and other international schools. It was a really great time of food, laughter, and games. It is my hope to continue to create these opportunities to build relationships and invest my time in people, as opposed to places or things.
CLOSING THOUGHTS
Thank you, once again, for taking the time to read and comment! I am so appreciative of you!
