In celebration of her birthday we did something crazy together. Today we went shopping in the morning with her family, but then afterwards we went and got our ears pierced a second time. I wish we had taken a camera because the facial expressions we both made during the process were quite memorable.
Before we went to get it done I called my parents to make sure I had their permission. Just one of those "honor your mother and father" things. I just wouldn't have felt right getting it done without making sure it was okay. So I called my mom and was like, "Mom, I respect you a lot so I want to ask your permission for something."
Mom goes, "Oh no. What do you want?"
"Emily and I would like to get a second hole pierced in our ears for her 20th birthday." Silence. Then I heard my mom's muffled talking. I assumed she was talking to my dad. More silence... then laughing.
"I wish you could see your father's face right now." My mom said laughing.
"What does he look like?" I asked listening to my mom continue laughing.
"I told him and he said, "Why?"," we both started laughing. I told her it was something Emily and I had been talking about doing for a while. In the end they gave me their permission so Emily and I went. After lots of nerves, pained faces, and giggling we both had extra holes in our ears. It was just a fun memory that we will always have together in remembrance of when we were both 20. I don't really have a Biblical reference for this experience, except that friendship and memories are such precious treasures.
Emily, we are a pair of weirdos and I love it :)
