For those of you who don't know what Sight & Sound is, it is a theater committed to dramatizing Biblical stories in order to spread the gospel and open people's eyes to the power of our God. In like 2006 I did m 8th grade career day there, it was one of the most brilliant experiences of my life. I decided then I wanted to work there more then anything. It was amazing to see a place so filled with Godly people passionate about the stories they were telling and the lives they were having the opportunity to change. They have a 300ft wrap around stage so that you the audience truly feel transported into the early Biblical time. Whether in Canaan or Egypt the color and detail is breath-taking. They use all live animals throughout the show (the only exception being when they did Noah, there were some good looking animatronic lions. haha). And I haven't even started talking about the music and story itself yet.
The music is breath-taking. Actors with wonderful voices that keep you captivated. The characters are so real and alive...their stories so powerful one can't help, but be inspired. I seriously cried like five times during the show today because I was so overwhelmed by God's work in the life of Joseph. I've seen this show like six times now, and for that I feel extremely blessed. This is because every time I discover something about God and Joseph's story that I had never seen before. Today, was no different.
One of his bitter co-prisoners shouts at Joseph, "You're a criminal Joseph! You're living in a pit, chained to rock! Sleeping on a cold floor while rats eat your scraps! Give up Joseph, you're dreams of greatness are dead!"
"It's not about me being great!" Joseph shouted back, "it's about serving the Greater One!" Slowly Joseph started pointing around the room at the other prisoners surrounding him, "and him, and him, and you, Raven." He said the the bitter prisoner.
I was sitting there in shock. Serving the Greater One by serving those around me, no matter who they are... have I been living by that? No. It's not about me being great! I just pray right now that this would become the cry of my heart... serving the Greater One... even when all hope is lost, even when my world is falling apart... even when I'm completely alone in the world with no one, but Christ as my Savior and friend...
God, please make this my hearts cry, let me have this as the foundation of everything that I am.
If you ever get a chance to go see a Sight & Sound show, I would passionately and fiercely represent it.
