Which was none other than OWL CITY!
Seriously people, I have no idea how I get this lucky!?
I discovered Owl City how most people did. It was during the sky rocketing success of Adam's hit song "Fireflies" in fall 2009. Not long after I learned that Adam Young is a Christian. Of course, everything about him got so much cooler after I'd learned that. Owl City showcases a type of music that Adam describes as "whimsical". It truly is a great way to describe his music, it's captivating. Owl City's songs, unique and fun, for me also, often carry such a deeper meaning and context. I always find myself searching through his lyrics to see how I can apply the message of the songs to my life.
Adam and the band were absolutely brilliant live. The energy in the room, between the audience and the band made the concert so epic and exciting (Definitely EPIC-OVERLOAD worthy). It was truly a blast. There were so many moments during his songs like, "Meteor Shower" and "Galaxies" were I was singing the words and my heart was just praising God for all his love, power, and glory. In "Meteor Shower" the lyrics go as follows: "I am not my own, I have been made new. Please don't let me go. I desperately need you." I truly felt I was singing those words straight into the throne room of heaven.
I am so desperately in need of my Savior.
Hearing Adam's testimony was so inspiring to me because it made me realize the importance of saying yes to God in times when we don't understand what God is doing with our lives. Life is hard, and we go through times of loneliness and lacking purpose, yet we must keep in mind that we have no idea what God has in store for us. We do know that God says in Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." I truly believe God has great things in store for those who are faithful to Him and willing to follow him no mater where he may lead them. I'm so thankful to Adam for reminding me of God's love and promise. God Bless!
