Yet, Peter's friend, the Centaur Oreius gave some powerful words of wisdom when he said, "Numbers do not win a battle."
In Psalms 33:16 it says: "No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength." Like Aslan's army, we as Christians are not to put our hope or our trust in multitudes or even our own skill. Our hope and our power is found knowing that God is on our side. Peter had his family and friends rally around him and give him the encouragement to face The White Witch. Not only that, but they also pointed Peter in the right direction to put his hope.
Edmund spoke to his brother, "Peter, there's an army out there, and it's ready to follow you." Peter filled with despair and doubt replied, "I can't." Then Edmund said the words that filled his brother with hope, "Aslan believed you could, and so do I."
As Christians we need to realize when we face great battles with unbeatable odds we do not face them alone. The LORD, God is with us always, He believes in us. Even when all seems lost God NEVER leaves us or forsakes us. Our hope and strength is found only in Him. We can face whatever is thrown at us in this life because the Lord, our God is great, He is strong, and He is the only thing we need to bring about great victory.
So let us go into battle like Peter does, keeping his only hope at the forefront of his mind, "For Aslan!"
"For Jesus Christ!!"
"I don’t trust in weapons;
my sword won’t save me--
But it’s you, you who saved us from the enemy;
you made those who hate us lose face.
All day we parade God’s praise--
we thank you by name over and over." ~ Psalm 60:11-12
The Gryphon: "They come your highness, in numbers and weapons far greater then our own."
Oreius: "Numbers do not win a battle."
